"I am deeply misunderstund, for my old kinsman have stained my name. Call upon me and I shall prove myself a worthy companion to witches."

Spirit derives from English folklore (Yorkshire and Preston, UK).

Grindylow's name is thought to be connected to Grendel, a name most remembered for its use in Beowulf.

It's described as a pale green water demon that live in the bottom of lakes in Britain.

Like the Kappa, the Grindlylow uses its long arms to grab small children who come too close to the lakes to pull them in the water and eat them.
