Austeja

"I am protectress of bees and guardian of families. I especially watch over women-with-child. Honey is sacred to me."

Spirit derives from the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania).

Austeja, a primordial deity, was actively venerated until the sixteenth century. (The Baltic was the last stronghold of European Paganism.)

Austeja, the goddess of the bees, hives, honey, and the flowers needed to make honey. Lithuanian hives were kept high within trees partially to keep bees close to their mother.

She's also is a guardian of the family, promoting and protecting abundance, fertility, and growth. She offers special protection to brides, pregnant women, and beekeepers, too.

Austeja means "to weave" because bees weaves their honeycombs.

She was simultaneously a bee and a human woman.
